Book Reviews–who needs them?

Below, a link to an article in the “Times” lamenting the huge reduction in book reviews. How true!

I used to read them regularly, and still do, often reading reviews in several publications to get a better feel–and a diverse perspective–of a book I might want to read. I remember buying Ian McEwan’s “Atonement” on Michiko Kakutani’s recommendation, and I’m so glad I did.
